Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
What is Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)?
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a cloud computing model for businesses wherein the storage vendor hosts completely virtualized computing resources, network resources, and storage solutions, then provides them to the user as a service to be accessed remotely through the internet.
The Modern Business Benefits of IaaS
Along with SaaS and PaaS, IaaS is one of the three main categories of cloud computing services. Typical IaaS provides customers with a variety of storage, software, data center, and network-based components, and characteristics of IaaS systems can include unique benefits such as dynamic scalability, automated administrative tasks, virtualization technology, and more. IaaS is a simplified, modern solution that helps organizations avoid unnecessary costs and complexities too often associated with purchasing on-site physical servers. With IaaS, it’s the cloud service provider - such as Wasabi - who is responsible for managing the IaaS infrastructure. Organizations simply rent a space within that service provider’s data center, further ensuring affordability by only charging users to pay for the resources they actually access. Wasabi offers direct, high-speed connectivity to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and other popular IaaS platforms through partnerships with leading colocation, carrier hotel, and exchange providers like Equinix, Flexential, Limelight Networks, Megaport, and more.
